Mark your calendars! Fourth UAM event!

The Underground Artisans Marketplace
November 6, 2010
3-8pm
Chronic Town (224 W. College Ave)
State College, PA

The Underground Artisans Marketplace, the first “alternative” arts and craft show to surface in State College, is inspired by the “alternative crafts” movement. The ideas of “buying local” and “going green” are reinforced in this style of market by introducing recycled, upcycled, and repurposed items as new art, by talented local artisans.

In recent years hip, alternative craft shows have been emerging in big cities. New York hosts Bust’s Holiday Craftacular http://www.bust.com/craftacular/bust-holiday-craftacular-2009-ny.html) and San Francisco has the Bazaar Bizarre (http://www.bazaarbizarre.org/sanfrancisco/) and Maker Faire (http://www.makerfaire.com/).

State College is continuing the trend by highlighting its own local artisans. Artisans from the Centre Region will be selling handmade clothing, jewelry, and stylish home decor; original artwork, pottery, upcycled and repurposed vintage clothing and wares, graphic design, DIY and more! Vintage vinyl will be on sale from The Music Underground.
